The LC2 and LC3 lines were conceived as “cushion baskets” designed to bring the lowly-but-essential furniture frame into the spotlight, making it an integral part of the design. It was the original designer’s way of bringing the spare, industrial look of the International Style – the modernist movement he pioneered – into the living room, without sacrificing comfort. This design was the toast of 1929’s Salon D’Automne, a Paris show where Europe’s top designers and artists displayed their work.
