Charles (1907-1978) and Ray Eames (1912 – 1988)

Charles and Ray Eames are two of the most well known  and widely regarded creative designers in post World War II America. Their designs are hugely influential and together they created some of the most iconic furniture of the twentieth century.  Their architecture, interiors, and exhibitions shape how people think about objects and buildings.

Their business started out in a spare bedroom in their rented apartment, but it was not long before they received their first sizeable order for 5000 splints from the US Army, that they moved to a much larger rented offices.

Their crowning glory is widely considered to be the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman which they designed in 1958.  This was the chair of choice for ant CEO's office throughout the 1960s and 1970s and it has since become the standard of chic residences across the world.

The  love of materials, technical ingenuity and sheer determination to spend years perfecting a design shines through in every single of their furniture.
